We celebrated National Tree Day on Thursday the 7th of October. This year is the year of the Birch and we learned all about the Birch tree. The children in the senior classes helped Mr. Cullen to plant a Birch tree in the grounds of the school. There were lots of different activities in the classes about trees. Last year we planted Hazel, Ash, Mountain Ash and Oak trees. These trees are all native trees to Ireland.
A Prayer Service and Blessing of Pets was held in the school on Saturday 2nd October 2010, at 11 am. St. Francis of Assisi had a great regard for the environment and he loved animals. Fr. Eoin led our celebration by blessing our pets. We had many lovely dogs, fish, guinea pigs, birds, snakes and other unusual pets.
